My ONE WORD for this year is SIMPLIFY, so I decided to take some action on it yesterday! I decided to quit playing Farmville on Facebook! I know that may not sound like much to many of you who have never gotten addicted to a game online, but I have to say I was addicted to playing that game. I would come in and go straight to the computer to see if my crops were ready, or if I had any nice gifts to use on the farm. It was CRAZY!! I couldn't seem to stop, and I would spend hours on it. I realized it was just cutting into good quality "real" time activities, so I deleted the game from my Facebook.
I am looking forward to seeing what creative and purposeful activities I can do with that time!!
Has anyone else had this problem of playing a game waaaaya too much???
Hi Mary. Simplify is definitely needed especially when things become something that keeps us from the Lord and our responsibilities. I was addicted to Facebook and games. Too many games! This past fall started studying Jeremiah and the conviction of "idols" was so strong. There are several verses but Chapter 10 comes to mind. During this time the people had crafted items that took place of God. Vs. 5 talks about how the idols were not living, always needing to be carried, no breath. Anything that we spend too much time on/with that we can't stop needs to be removed. I left Facebook totally in December. Now I have more time for His word and applying what I learn. More time for family. I have one game I play but only if I have done all that He has given to me for that day. My prayer time has increased also. I pray that He will show you anything that needs to be simplified.

Thank you for writing, Sara. I have been trying to cut back the computer games as well, I haven't made it all the way, but I have really cut back in a desire to simplify, and spend more time with the Lord. Again, thanks for writing.
ReplyDeleteHello again Sara. I hope you get this. I am so new to blogging, I don't know how people know when something is commented back to them. I want you to know that I finally deleted Farmville from my Facebook, and I feel better. Also, talking about my word of the year SIMPLIFY, well, I fell on the ice last Friday, so I won't be walking for awhile, as my foot and knee heal. That's a quick move to simplicity, isn't it? I want to use this time to grow closer to Jesus. Stay in touch, Mary
